The Galaxy S25 series, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, has passed through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), revealing key updates on their connectivity capabilities. The most notable upgrade is the inclusion of Wi-Fi 7 (Wi-Fi 802.11be), which all three models will support.
Key Connectivity Features:
Wi-Fi 7: The Galaxy S25 series will be the first to bring Wi-Fi 7 support to Samsung’s mainstream flagship lineup. This new standard offers faster speeds, lower latency, and improved connectivity stability over Wi-Fi 6E, which was used in the previous Galaxy S24 models (excluding the S24 Ultra).
Wi-Fi 6E on Earlier Models: The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 FE models stuck with Wi-Fi 6E due to limitations with their Exynos 2400/2400e chips, which don’t support Wi-Fi 7. This marks a clear distinction in connectivity advancements between the two generations.
Ultra-wideband (UWB): The S25+ and S25 Ultra will also support UWB connectivity, which allows for advanced location-tracking capabilities, such as precise tracking of nearby devices and integration with smart home tech. However, the base S25 model will not feature UWB.
Wi-Fi 7 on 2025 Galaxy Flagships:
With Wi-Fi 7 becoming a key feature in the S25 lineup, it is expected that all Galaxy flagship smartphones in 2025 will incorporate this technology. This positions the Galaxy S25 as a major upgrade for users seeking enhanced wireless performance.
Samsung’s decision to include Wi-Fi 7 in the S25 series, but limit UWB to the higher-end S25+ and S25 Ultra, suggests that while connectivity upgrades are a focus for the 2025 flagships, the Ultra and Plus models will continue to offer more premium features.
