Galaxy S25 Ultra Leaks in Live Video, Huawei Launches Mate 70 Series, Week 48 in Review

This week saw some major updates in the world of smartphones, with new leaks and exciting launches.

  1. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Leaks The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is getting closer to its official release. Leaked images and a live video have revealed a shift in design for Samsung's flagship. The Galaxy S25 Ultra will ditch the sharp edges of its predecessor in favor of a more rounded design, including rounded corners on the display. The back features a familiar camera setup with four sensors housed in their own ring. Leaks also showed One UI 7.0 with redesigned icons, a new control center, and an updated camera app UI. The device has been spotted on Geekbench with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

  2. Huawei Mate 70 Series Launch Huawei held a major event for the launch of the Mate 70 series, consisting of four models: Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and the Mate 70 RS Ultimate. All devices feature LTPO OLED displays with FHD+ resolution and a 1-120Hz refresh rate, while the RS Ultimate comes with a dual-layer OLED panel boasting 3,500 nits peak brightness. The phones share a 50MP RYYB main sensor with a 24mm variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture and a 40MP ultrawide sensor. The Pro models and RS Ultimate come with 48MP periscopes for 3.5x zoom, while the standard Mate 70 has a 12MP periscope with 5x zoom. Although Huawei hasn’t officially revealed details on the chipsets, it's speculated that the Mate 70 uses the Kirin 9010, while the Pro models feature the Kirin 9020, which Huawei claims is 40% faster. Prices for the devices range from CNY 5,499 ($757) to CNY 11,999 ($1,656).

  3. Xiaomi Redmi K80 Series Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi K80 series, which includes the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro. Both phones come with 6.67” OLED displays featuring QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The standard model uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, while the Pro model upgrades to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Both models feature a 50MP main camera with the K80 Pro offering an additional 50MP telephoto lens and 32MP ultrawide sensor. The K80 Pro also features a 6,000mAh battery and IP68 rating, while the K80 has a 6,550mAh battery. Prices for the K80 start at CNY 2,500 ($345), and the K80 Pro starts at CNY 3,700 ($510).

  4. Nothing Phone (3) The Nothing Phone (3) appeared on Geekbench, revealing that it comes with a midrange Snapdragon chipset. Details about its performance and features remain scarce.

  5. iPhone 17 Pro Design Leak The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to undergo significant design changes next year, with some shocking new details emerging about the device's look.

  6. Samsung Galaxy A56 Leak Leaked renders of the Samsung Galaxy A56 show one key design change, although most of the upgrades are expected to be internal.
